Welcome to Magnolia Thymes! My name is Emily and I am so happy you have stopped by! Recently graduating from Auburn University, I am in the process of figuring out my new post-grad life. I have been dreaming of starting this blog for a while and now just seemed like the perfect time to get it going. Newly 'transplanted' to the beautiful city of Atlanta, I am enjoying spending time with my better half, Rustin, our precious Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Scout and trying as I might to live a frugal, yet fabulous life.
I love the concept of mixing a higher priced item with one of lesser value in all areas of my life. With that being said, in the kitchen (my happy place), I love to make simple recipes and turn them into an elegant, yet affordable dish. In the 1950′s bungalow we live in, I have been doing as many DIY projects as possible and mixing them with newer pieces and accents to make the place affordable and stylish.
The inspiration behind the title of my blog came from my deep southern roots. Born and raised in the state of Alabama, I am a southern girl to the core. My parents home, that I lived in until leaving for college, is completely surrounded by magnolia trees. They are one of my favorite plants and I am so comforted and nostalgic when being around them. As I spend so much of my time in the kitchen, I feel that fresh ingredients and especially fresh herbs are such a key to make a recipe truly fabulous, so that is where the ‘thymes’ part came in. I hope you enjoy reading along as I write this new chapter, or the thymes of my life!
