My Best Friends Wedding came out in 1997 and I have been obsessed with the movie ever since. Am I the only one who dreamed about a new ending where Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney end up together? I'm probably the only one who still cares about this movie in the first place. Needless to say, Prince Charming and a wedding of my own were not things I spent my childhood dreaming about, just the fake weddings of my favorite movie characters. Enter 2009, college and Pinterest. Planning a wedding was practically an every day hobby, especially in some of my boring lecture classes at Auburn. Pinterest made it so easy for women of all ages to build inspiration no matter if they were actually engaged or even close to marriage. Now that I am a bride-to-be looking through stuff, it is hilarious to see what things I pinned for my "dream wedding" in college, that are so very different from my taste now.
I am an extremely picky person and while Pinterest has been so awesome for inspiration and wedding planning, it can be overwhelming at times. For instance, I can scroll for what seems like hours and hours, and never see a thing I like. But I have Pinterest to thank for finding so many pieces of my inspiration for the wedding.
A few weeks ago, Rustin and I went to Birmingham during the week for a few wedding appointments. We had catering tasting one day and the cake tasting the next. Being the foodie that I am, I was so excited for the catering tasting. We are going to be having a fun menu that is all about us. Nothing fancy. Just some damn good food. Already looking forward to the post-wedding blog post all about it! As for the cake, I had honestly never given it much thought...until about the day before. I happened to get most of my inspiration for the grooms cake from a magazine! So funny with all the 'Pinteresting' that goes on, as previously mentioned.
I am thankful to have a groom that gives his input and shows up to appointments. While I know he trusts me to all the aesthetic portions of the wedding, I would never want him to feel like this was my wedding instead of ours. With that being said, we have been making the big decisions together, which is awesome. I do have to pull some errr "caring" out of him at times, but let's face it...he is the groom! We love the woman who will be making our cakes, Barb. She is warm, inviting and makes the best cake ever! Without giving too much away I will leave you with a little piece of inspiration.
As our day quickly approaches, it's hard we are nearing the 6 month mark! Thankful for my parents and amazing planner who are making this wedding planning thing a breeze!
Until next time,
