Classic BLT's are one of those sandwiches that remain as one of my top favorite things. One of the best parts about BLTs is that you typically have all things on hand! They're one of the best sandwiches to exist. Given that tomatoes would stay as perfect as they are now, I would enjoy BLTs all year. I am however a tomato snob and they're just not as good in the winter! So, BLTs all summer for me!
When I am making my Classic BLT, I like to slice my tomatoes and place them on a plate with a little salt and pepper. I chill them in the fridge to get them a little chilled. Doing this helps drain the initial liquid and the salt and pepper absorb into them.
Another key factor in making a perfect BLT is going heavy on the mayo. I mean if you're that adverse to mayo you probably shouldn't be eating a BLT to begin with. A thin line of mayo isn't going to do a thing in flavor so add a thick chunk!
- bacon, fried
- tomato, sliced
- salt and pepper
- white bread, toasted
(I know you don't actually need them)
1. Smear the mayo generously on the bread, one or both sides whatever you prefer.
2. Assemble sandwich, lettuce, tomato, bacon. Slice and enjoy the taste of summer perfectness in the form of tomato.
Until next time, buy all the fresh tomatoes you can,
